Queensland Arts Showcase Program Round 2 recipients

The latest outcomes from the Queensland Arts Showcase Program round 2:

• *Solar Productions - $150,000 over two years (plus $90,000 for an industry placement) to deliver the 2023 and 2024 Open Season program at the Princess Theatre in Woolloongabba, Brisbane.
• Sunshine Coast Council - $113,500 over two years to deliver Dawn Awakening a significant First Nations-led Ceremony.
• *North Queensland Ensembles - $70,993 over two years (plus $70,000 towards an industry placement over two years and $10,000 for new music commissioning) to strengthen skills and deliver remote touring and opportunities for the Great Barrier Reef Orchestra musicians, young people and northern Australian audiences.
• Caitlin Franzmann - $11,760 to travel to Northern Norway to participate in cross-disciplinary collective residencies.
• Bridie Hooper - $39,794 to develop and present a new live art experience, For Whom the Bell Tolls, merging circus, participatory art and a tolling bell to celebrate the hopes of a community.
• Book Links Queensland - $15,362 to bring to Toowoomba an Artist-in-Residence program centred around an exhibition of Queensland artist Lee FullARTon’s handcrafted children’s picture book.
• *Queensland Writers Centre - $69,000 (plus $30,000 for an industry placement) to deliver a community-based writing program supporting new cultural experiences for individual writers and community participants in rural and remote areas.
• Centacare Community Services - $68,350 to deliver Technicolour Rumble which tells the story of what happens when Brisbane suddenly loses all its colour. 
• Everybody NOW! - $64,176 to deliver an innovative, participatory, community-engaged music theatre production, featuring an explosive live soundtrack, roller-skating and a series of action-packed interconnecting real stories. 
• Dean Martell Brady - $20,000 to release an EP consisting of four singles in late 2023, and implement a marketing plan for the EP.
• JUTE Theatre Company - $69,866 to rehearse and produce a new regional theatre work by mature-age female regional playwright, Marilyn Marsh-Booth. 
• Shock Therapy Arts - $70,000 to deliver a hybrid experience: part live video game, obstacle course, and performance installation.  
• 4000 Studios - $75,000 to deliver a program that provides twelve creatives with free access to music studios, photo and video assets, and mentoring from leading industry professionals. 
• *Elements Collective - $68,000 (plus $60,000 for an industry placement) to deliver a program of public events and learning initiatives that prepare Queensland dancers for the world stage and invite new audiences to enjoy our vibrant dance culture.
• Great Barrier Reef Festival - $68,540 (plus $10,000 new music commissioning) to produce new works and share skills through community workshops, mentoring young musicians and extending the footprint of the Great Barrier Reef Festival. 
• Brisbane International Jazz Festival - $49,395 to present between 10 and 20 performances of local, interstate, and international jazz acts. 
• *Dancenorth Australia - $150,000 over two years (plus $90,000 to support an industry placement over two years and $10,000 for new music commissioning) to create a full-length mainstage work, which will premiere in Townsville before touring to Brisbane, Melbourne and Adelaide. 
• *Australasian Dance Collective - $149,937 over two years (plus $48,450 for an industry placement) to launch a residency program in partnership with BlakDance, which supports the development of new performance work by Australian First Nations choreographers. 
• *Institute of Modern Art - $38,200 (plus $48,000 for an industry placement) for the first major presentation of Daniel Boyd's (Kudjla/Gangalu) work in Queensland.
• Jessie Lloyd - $26,000 to research and record traditional songs from Moa Island in the Torres Strait in consultation with elders and traditional owners.
• *TWO Festivals - $149,446 over two years (plus $90,000 for an industry placement over two years) to bring together a diverse range of artists and arts workers from across Queensland to deliver an extensive program of high-quality events as part of the Wynnum Fringe 2023-34. 
• Tim McCallum - $69,620 to redevelop The Crooners show 'Swinging and Spinning' a high-energy comedic musical cabaret performance of swing and jazz classics.
• Texas Qld - $20,000 to grow the Texas Country Music Festival to appeal to a larger audience.
• *Playlab Theatre - $69,950 (plus $45,326 for an industry placement) to produce ‘Eat Slay Zombie’ by Alinta McGrady and present the production in partnership with Brisbane Powerhouse.
• Quiet Riot Creative - $39,000 to tour Hot Brown Honey – The Remix across the UK in June and July 2023.
• National Association for the Visual Arts (NAVA) - $70,000 to develop a new program that increases access, awareness and application of NAVA’s new Code of Practice for Visual Arts, Craft and Design.
• Thomas Green - $34,148 for three expert kung fu practitioners to perform traditional Chinese solo martial forms captured as videography and set to music for percussion, strings and electronics.  This first phase includes creative development, production, promotion and release followed by live shows in 2024.
• Leah Shelton - $37,810 to present her acclaimed works B*TCH at Brisbane Festival; Sardegna Teatro, Italy; and BATSHIT at The Cultch, Vancouver.
• James Barth - $13,963 to create new videos and paintings for an exhibition in the 2024 Adelaide Biennial of Australian Art. 
• Cara-Ann Simpson - $24,657 to develop a multisensory art project exploring the wonder of plants.
• Dylan Cattanach - $33,030 to record Katanak's Debut EP, shoot accompanying video and release the finished EP. 
• Matthew Wengert - $16,494 to deliver a multi-arts cultural history project which curates, exhibits, and publishes a selection of images from Paul O’Brien’s collection of Brisbane 1970s-80s punk and post-punk photographs from the State Library. 
• *Feral Arts - $70,000 (plus $33,500 towards an industry placement) to lead the creative activation of industrial precinct Kunda Park with music industry mentoring, workshops, rehearsal and showcases.
• Griffith University Art Museum - $15,596 to deliver a cross-cultural project comprising an exhibition of new textile and performance works, a publication, a 'community-making' space, and community-focused, accessible public programs.
• *Counterpilot Arts - $70,000 (plus $60,000 towards an industry placement) to produce an ambitious program of contemporary performance activities.
• Circa Contemporary Circus - $70,000 to deliver an immersive acrobatic production by Circa created for Cathedrals setting the spiritual music of Arvo.
