The latest outcomes from the Queensland Arts Showcase Program (QASP) - round 6 for Arts Accelerate, Arts Activate and Arts Advantage

QASP - round 6 funding recipients for Arts Accelerate and Arts Activate

  • Shake & stir theatre company - $60,000 for Fourteen by Shannon Molloy to present the world premiere stage adaption at the Cremorne Theatre QPAC (Brisbane). 
  • Mr Clint Bolster - $59,564 for Bolster and Lee to present a highly stylised, immersive world of theatrical clowning (Brisbane).
  • Miss Daniele Constance - $52,396 for Looks Like A Tourist, a new, large scale, site-specific, participatory and choreographic work to be presented in public spaces on the Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast (Gold Coast/Sunshine Coast).
  • Mr Alexander Raineri - $51,101 for the 2022 Brisbane Music Festival celebrating its fifth year of programming, a cross-cultivation of musical offerings from the old and familiar to the exploratory and new (Brisbane).
  • Playlab Theatre - $59,609 for Unconditional Conditions by Sean Dowling and Cameron Hurry bringing contemporary trans story to the stage and provide a meaningful pathway for two emerging LQBQITA+ playwrights to move into professional practice (Brisbane).
  • Flipside Circus Ltd - $42,950 for Buddy System, a collaboration between Flipside Circus and the internationally renowned Casus Circus, exploring intergenerational themes (Brisbane).
  • Dr Wes Hill - $19,728 for Public Pictures: Jeff Gibson, a survey exhibition, online portal and series of regionally-held masterclasses accompanied by a publication on the internationally acclaimed Brisbane-born, Toowoomba-educated artist Jeff Gibson (Moreton Bay).
  • Dr Louise Mayhew - $10,000 for Lemonade: Letters to Art to develop a new online platform for weekly art reviews and to showcase Queensland exhibitions in public, commercial and experimental art galleries (Brisbane).
  • Ms Judy Watson - $58,000 for Reclaim the Earth exhibition at the Palais de Tokyo, Paris, bringing together 14 international artists (Brisbane).
  • Ms Emma Wilson - $24,865 for Body Dreaming, a 4-day residency, three workshops, and interdisciplinary performance-installation (Moreton Bay).
  • Dr Sebastian Di Mauro - $10,000 to exhibit Personal Structures in Italy (Brisbane City).-
  • Mr Paul Bong - $24,807 to document, publish and promote the book Bindur Bullin (Paul Bong): Printmaking in Yidinji Country which examines cultural influences that impact his work (Cassowary Coast).
  • Mr Paul Andrew - $30,000 for Self-made, Artist-Run, a new zine-based archival art initiative which maps the untold stories and hidden histories of Queensland artist-run culture by drawing on the foundations of the 1970s experimental art ecology (Redland City).
  • Empire Theatres - $10,000 for Impact 2022 – New work for Young People, an advanced performance-making program through the IMPACT Ensemble to create a new theatre work for young people (Toowoomba).
  • Sunshine Coast Chamber Music Festival - $59,998 for First Nations Events providing a prominent platform for First Nations artists and voices. The contemporary narratives will enhance audience appreciation of Kabi significant places, language and cultural history (Sunshine Coast).
  • Ipswich District Teacher-Librarian Network - $23,030 for StoryArts Festival Ipswich - Connecting Readers with Creators, a vibrant week-long program celebrating books and story in different forms including an exhibition (Ipswich).
  • Flotsam Arts Inc - $39,568 for Flotsam Festival, a surf film and photography celebration aiming to explore the creative side of beach culture via an eclectic mix of pop up short film installations, photography exhibitions, movie screenings, workshops and photo meets (Gold Coast).
  • Ms Stephanie Lindquist - $19,820 for Precision: the art of cutting, an exhibition that explores the physicality of paper and photographic prints through the process of incising, folding and casting (Brisbane).
  • Torres Shire Council - $60,000 for Winds of Zenadth Cultural Festival 2022 bringing together performers from islands across the Torres Strait under a single unified event that is reflective of regional harmony (Torres Shire).

QASP round 6 funding recipients for Arts Advantage

  •  Somerset Storyfest Ltd - $56,307 for Storyfest Out West, a two-day writers festival for children to work with writers and a workshop for parents. (Gold Coast).
  • Cootharinga North Queensland - $27,138 for Merry-Go-Round, a 4-day intensive circus and dance workshop led by some of Queensland’s greatest artists for 20 disabled or deaf young people to be presented at NAFA. (Townsville).
  • Brisbane Powerhouse - $56,306 for MELT Festival, a new vision for MELT moves from a fringe festival model to a fully curated/presented major festival from 9 to 12 June 2022. (Brisbane).
  • Djabugay Tribal Aboriginal Corporation - $26,810 for Djabugay Threads, program designed for young Djabugay artists living in Kuranda, Mantaka, Kowrowa and surrounding regional areas. (Mareeba).
  • Welcoming Australia - $59,519 for Brothers Book Club, a theatre performance, created by Logan’s Mamas Boys Collective expanding conventional forms to include poetry, hip hop, and dance (Brisbane).
