Grow Cultural Tourism Fund successful recipients

The latest outcomes from the Grow Cultural Tourism Fund 

Stream 1 recipients 

  • Museum of Brisbane - $20,000 for an independent feasibility study and in-person research to determine the potential economic, cultural and community impact of a major new Brisbane-wide visual arts event. The potential city-wide initiative aspires to be a dynamic cultural tourism offering in the lead up to and during the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
  • The Crackup Sisters Pty Ltd - $26,800 for a feasibility study and strategic plan for The Crackup Comedy Festival, an annual week-long festival in five communities across western Queensland. The study will engage with local businesses, community, producers and artists to develop a strategic plan for a 2026 festival.
  • NorthSite Contemporary Arts - $30,000 for a feasibility study for the Oceania Print Festival in Cairns, proposed to drive cultural tourism and cement Far North Queensland's status as a hub for print in the Asia-Pacific region.
  • Feral Arts Corp Ltd - $20,000 for a feasibility study and test event for The HallowGreen Festival concept as an integrated part of the Light Industry Pilot Project and Forum, co-funded by Creative Australia, the University of the Sunshine Coast and Feral Arts. 

 

Stream 2 recipients

  • Isa Rodeo Ltd - $40,000 for Kiakati (means ‘to make’ in Kalkadoon), a First Nations arts and cultural precinct to showcase art, dance, songs, stories, performances and interactive workshops within the 2024 Mt Isa Mines Indigenous Rodeo. 

 

Stream 3 recipients

  • Sunshine Coast Regional Council - $70,000 for FutureNOW City, a luminous outdoor art gallery as part of the Horizon Festival 2025. Co-curated by Experimenta and nestled into the evolving Maroochydore cityscape, this free 10-day art-trail as part of the Horizon Festival invites audiences to contemplate the future through the intersection of art and technology.
  • Serca Supermarkets Pty Ltd (The Baralaba Bash) - $80,000 to support a high-profile headline act for the 2024 Baralaba Bash music and arts festival to increase the festival’s scale and public awareness.
  • Rockhampton Regional Council - $51,500 to boost local and regional visitation to the Rockhampton River Festival through an expanded program of multi-disciplined arts experiences and workshops. This project will increase the vibrancy and accessibility of the local arts community and allow local artists to network and collaborate for a more enriched arts community.
  • Texas Qld Inc. - $40,000 to support high-profile artists and marketing for the Texas Country Music Festival, a growing annual event showcasing original Australian Music talent and with the capacity to grow overnight visitors to the town. Funding will also support the festival to boost its marketing to drive increased festival attendance and local economic impact.
  • Townsville City Council - $80,000 to support a celebration of First Nations cultures and storytelling through music featuring Xavier Rudd, Fred Leone and local regional Queensland artists as part of the North Australian Festival of the Arts.
  • Great Barrier Reef Festival - $19,718 to support the enhancement and growth of ‘Immerse’, the Great Barrier Reef Festival's reef-themed installation, through creation of new works and incorporation of First Nations stories of the Great Barrier Reef into the festival. Funded activities will include performance, public art and artistic representational signage to further engage festival goers with the wonders of the reef.
  • Sound Australia (QLD) Pty Ltd - $60,000 for First Nations artistic displays and cultural activities to enhance the Savannah in the Round music event.
  • Sunshine Plantation Promotions Unit Trust - $80,000 to support an enhanced line-up for the 2024 Big Pineapple Music Festival, including expanded visual arts and local artist programming alongside recognised international acts.
