Preparatory works start

Progress on Queensland’s new $150 million theatre will become visible this week with Managing Contractor, Lendlease establishing a presence at the Playhouse Green project site.

Following site establishment, Lendlease will begin exploratory and preparatory works to support the delivery of the new theatre at QPAC.

These works include erecting project fencing, installing vibration monitoring, and service relocation works.

Preparatory works are being undertaken following Heritage Approval in December 2019. These works are necessary to prepare the site ahead of construction works, which are subject to planning approvals, to ensure Queensland’s new theatre can be delivered by late 2022.

Changed traffic and pedestrian access

A key focus during the delivery of this project is ensuring business as usual operations at QPAC, and continued access to the four operating venues within QPAC and the broader South Bank precinct and Cultural Centre.

Some closure of the footpaths on Russell and Grey Street will occur. These changes will be well sign posted.

Traffic control will also be in place at the intersection of Russell and Grey Streets.
