Minister for Science and Minister for the Arts Leeanne Enoch invited Queenslanders to experiment, explore and engage with science as the new Sparklab Sciencentre at Queensland Museum South Bank opens its doors to the public tomorrow (Monday).

Queensland children will be able to dive into amazing arts activities at QPAC’s Out of the Box Festival, which has kick-started today.

Promoting the joys of reading to young Queenslanders remains a priority for the Palaszczuk Government, with the state announcing an annual commitment of $5 million to continue popular learning initiative First 5 Forever.

The $200,000 Artists in Residence (AIR) program 2017-18, supported through Arts Queensland and Education Queensland, will see artists and arts organisations work with students and teachers in communities experiencing disadvantage.

Through a partnership with the Queensland Music Festival, Yarrabah State School students developed their creative expression, writing and team work skills and the confidence to perform at the Yarrabah Band Festival.

This arts-science project combined drawing, sculpture and microscopy to help young children visualise, explore and learn about 'invisible' worlds.
