Arts Queensland (AQ) is seeking expressions of interest from Queensland-based First Nations artists, cultural workers and thought leaders to be part of a Queensland delegation to attend the Purrumpa First Nations Arts and Culture Gathering in Adelaide.
Being held from 31 October to Friday 4 November, Purrumpa will bring together First Nations Arts and Cultures stakeholders from around the country in celebration of the almost 50 years since the formation of the Aboriginal Arts Board in 1973 (Cultural Sensitivity Warning: link contains mention of persons who are now deceased).
Purrumpa will also plan and make recommendations to Commonwealth, States and Territories to amplify positive outcomes for all aspects of the First Nations arts and cultures sector.
AQ will provide a bursary to 10 selected delegates covering the cost of registration, travel, accommodation and living away from home expenses (meals and incidentals). AQ will provide a daily professional fee for independent and freelance practitioners whose income will be affected by their attendance at the gathering. Please note: AQ is unable to provide any financial support for dependants, including travel and accomodation.
AQ will arrange air travel and accommodation for selected delegates.
If you are successful in being part of the delegation, you must be prepared to fly to Adelaide and attend each day of Purrumpa, and also provide a written account of your experiences and reflections of the gathering.
To express your interest in attending Purrumpa tell us in 250 words or less how your attendance at Purrumpa will grow outcomes for First Nations arts in Queensland, and also describe how you will share information and key outcomes with your community.
Your response will support a selection panel of eminent First Nations Arts and Cultures practitioners in their assessment of expression of interest against the following criteria:
