Named after Judith Wright, the celebrated Australian poet and activist, the Judith Wright Arts Centre (JWAC) is a vibrant and contemporary visual and performing arts hub, located in the heart of Brisbane’s Fortitude Valley.
Home to some of Queensland’s and Australia’s most dynamic arts organisations, JWAC is a creative space for exciting visual arts programming and for the development and presentation of original and innovative contemporary performance works, including cabaret, circus, dance, music, spoken word and multi-disciplinary arts.

Opened in 2001, JWAC is owned and operated by the Queensland Government and managed by Arts Queensland. Learn more about the history of JWAC.
JWAC underwent a $3.1 million redevelopment in 2018 and completed in 2020, which created a new gallery space featuring the work of Queensland artists, an updated entry and facade incorporating night-time digital art projections, a new foyer layout with fitout and finishes, new offices and more spaces for tenants, artists and arts workers to meet and come together.
